Nic Batum discusses injury recovery, next steps in return to Sixers

Nic Batum discusses his injury recovery as well as the next steps for him in his return to the Philadelphia 76ers.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers return home from a four-game road trip on Tuesday looking to continue to get fully healthy again.

Joel Embiid is set to return from a four-game absence due to a right ankle sprain while Nic Batum is set to play in his second game back from a right hamstring strain.

Batum missed five games with the injury before returning in a road loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. He had nine points off the bench; he knocked down three triples to give the Sixers a big boost.

“It was good,” said Batum at shootaround on Tuesday. “I think I took my time. Like I said, it was the first time I had a hamstring injury, so I didn’t know what to do, to expect. I was listening to the staff so I took my time and I figured it out last game so it should be pretty good.”

Moving forward, Batum will go through a daily routine designed keep him on the floor. The Sixers know how important he is to their success due to his shooting, his defensive ability and his basketball IQ.

“I have a good routine,” Batum added. “Keep sticking, listening with the staff, weight room, training room, whatever. So be smart with it and I’ll be OK.”
