The Tennessee Titans have a firm grasp on first place in the AFC South after they were the only team in the division to win in Week 7.
With a 19-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Titans have now won four straight and have the AFC South’s only winning record. The Jacksonville Jaguars are headed in the opposite direction with four straight losses.
Through seven weeks, the AFC South standings look like this:
- Tennessee Titans: 4-2 (2-0 in division)
- Indianapolis Colts: 3-3-1 (1-3-1 in division)
- Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-5 (1-2 in division)
- Houston Texans: 1-4-1 (1-0-1 in division)
A glimmer of hope for the Jaguars is the fact that the team finishes the season with two of its last five games coming against the Titans. While that’s an opportunity to close the gap late in the year, it won’t matter much at all if the Jaguars keep digging themselves into a massive hole.
With more than 40 percent of the season in the books for the Jaguars, they’re closer to the top of the 2023 NFL Draft order than they are to a spot in the playoffs.
