NFL sets 2021 salary cap at $182.5 million

The National Football League has set the 2021 salary cap at $182.5 million.

The number teams around the league have anxiously been awaiting has finally been released. The National Football League has now set the 2021 salary cap at $182.5 million, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

A number of weeks ago, the floor was set at a minimum of $180 million, but now clubs have a firm figure to work with heading into free agency.

That being said, the new league year kicks off on March 17 and there will be plenty of roster juggling based on the cap. Expect a number of players to be released early over the next week as teams assess their needs.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the salary cap decreased this year by roughly 8% – from $198.2 million to $182.5 million.
