Antonio Brown’s time as a Buffalo Bills made Anquan Boldin’s look like Tom Brady’s tenure with the Patriots. In fact, Brown’s Bills career was… non-existent.
Much of Bills Mafia will remember the few hours the Bills “traded for” the then-former Steelers receiver. The leaked news eventually never happened and Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane went on to say… sure, he had some conversations, but the deal wasn’t close to happening. Just some speculation.
After his… connections… to the Bills, Brown went to the Raiders, to the Patriots, to… being out of the NFL due to several off-field incidents in recent years that made many Bills observers feel like the club dodged a bullet.
And perhaps we’ve found another one. It appears for the second time, Brown has now retired from the NFL. He fired off a series of tweets on Monday that said he’s done… again:
As teased, Brown previously said he was retiring from the league, which occurred on Sept. 22, two days after his release from the Patriots. At the time, it was the ultimate conclusion to his incredibly tumultuous 2019 season, where he actually threatened retiring over not being able to wear a helmet he wanted while still a member of the Raiders. This looks like simply another strange chapter in the embattled receiver’s saga. Once considered the premier pass catcher in the league, Brown has left folks wondering once again if he will ever take the field again.
All of this Brown happened between September 2019 and dated back to only March 2019. That’s when Brown’s first up-and-down 2019 adventure began when he was “being traded to” the Bills. What a few months that was.
There’s been some rumor of interest in Brown from the likes of a few teams in the league such as the Seahawks and Bucs, but perhaps the 32-year-old is actually done this time. We’ll see.
