NFL GameDay analysts Steve Smith and Maurice Jones-Drew had nothing but praise for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on their morning program as they both broke down two key plays by Allen during their win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night.
The former NFL skill players went into detail for Allen’s touchdown pass to Gabe Davis and the toe-tapping sideline catch by Dalton Kincaid during the Bills win.
Gabe Davis, who was named our Week 8 Player of the Game, and Dalton Kincaid, who scored his first career touchdown after being drafted this year, were part of the Buffalo skill players that were instrumental to the success of the Bills offense along with their team captain Josh Allen.
MJD and Smith broke it down on NFL Network and explained how the Buccaneers defense was respecting Allen’s talent on the run and how it impacted their coverage, specifically during both of those throws.
The Bills have had a real problem with their offense the last couple weeks, especially when it comes to starting games. Allen is a talented passer and rusher, but has not really run the ball a lot this season. On Thursday, Allen was attacking the Buccaneers through the air and on the ground, with seven carries for 41 yards and a touchdown.
The Buccaneers secondary expected him to run during both of those throws that were broken down on NFL GameDay, which led to an open Davis for the eventual winning touchdown and the matchup advantage for Kincaid along the sideline.
It remains to be seen if Allen will continue to attack opposing defenses the way he did on Thursday, but this offense’s performance should be a baseline for things to come for Buffalo the rest of the season.
