Holy NFL trade deadline, Batman. We have movement in the trenches.
The Washington Commanders are shaking, rattling and rolling. General manager Martin Mayhew has sent defensive ends Montez Sweat and Chase Young packing.
Sweat is headed to the Chicago Bears, and Young is headed to the San Franciso 49ers. The two moves have caused absolute chaos among NFL fans, but it’s not because the players will no longer be on the team. It’s the trade compensation that has fans cracking some serious jokes.
Sweat, who is three years older than Young, is off to Chicago in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick. Yet, the 49ers, who also traded with the Commanders, only sent a third-round pick to get Young.
Right on cue, fans roasted the Bears for giving up more than they likely should have for a player who is older and arguably has a lower ceiling.
If you know a Bears fan, they might need a hug.
