Pete Carroll did it again.
The Seattle Seahawks coach made another huge mistake with his team having the ball one the 1 yard line late in the final seconds of a huge and once again it cost his team a win.
The Seahawks got a first and goal from the 1 yard line with 23 seconds left. Russell Wilson then spiked the ball to stop the clock and Marshawn Lynch ran on the field. We’ve seen this before, right?
Well, Carroll didn’t even have a chance to not hand it off to Lynch this time around as the Seahawks wasted so much time getting players in and out and trying to get settled that they were called for a delay of game penalty. The ball went back to the 6 yard line and then on 4th down they came six inches away from winning the game.
Instead, the 49ers left town with the 26-21 win, the NFC East title, and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
All because Pete Carroll blew it again.

There have been a million frustrating penalties committed by the Seahawks over the years but that delay of game takes the got damn cake.

Marshawn Lynch thought he was unretiring to get that crunch-time carry on the 1. Instead he watched a spike and a delay of game from the 1 before running off the field because they didn't need him from the 6. He should hang them up again out of principle.

Pete Carroll was clearly weighing whether it would be an admission he was wrong to not give Marshawn the ball in the Super Bowl if he gave it to him here, and that hubris caused a delay of game. Amazing how cursed that one decision is.
