Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett is back in the NFC East. After Jerry Jones avoided firing Garrett this month by letting his contract expire, Garrett interviewed for the Giants’ offensive coordinator job and was announced as the new OC on Friday.
Garrett previously served as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator from 2007 to 2010, when he became the Cowboys’ head coach. During his 13 full seasons as a coordinator and head coach in Dallas, the Cowboys ranked fourth in the NFL in yards per game (367) and sixth in the NFL in points per game (24.3), according to ESPN.
Giants fans have been roasting Garrett for years as a divisional rival, but reaction to the hire from analysts and fans on social media has been mixed.

Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett:
• Knows the NFC East inside/out
• Knows how to use an elite Running Back
• Knows how to use the Tight End
• Developed Romo/Dak; should help Jones
• Experienced, successful play callerGood hire, by Coach Joe Judge. #GiantsPride

Not sure if Giants fans know this: Jason Garrett went to Princeton. (Prepare to hear about this 42 times a game.) Also he hasn't called plays in eight years and the last time he did he couldn't field a top 10 offense with Romo-Dez-Austin-Witten-Murray. Other than that, he's good. https://t.co/2bxYDArGZ2

No one knows how Garrett will work out as OC with the Giants, but what we do know is that when Garrett knows his opponents (NFCE, SEA, NO) he is very, very good.
He knows the Cowboys more.
Going for cheap laughs but the butt of your own jokes.

Congrats to Jason Garrett. He's finally doing what he does best – coordinate an offense. He was never a head coach. He'll help the Giants. Judge can motivate. Garrett can strategize and call plays. Cowboys can win.

I like Jason Garrett personally. Always have. But I don’t think a recycled head coach with incredible baggage within the division is the right fit for a new-look staff. Big mistake.
