NFL executives are scared of this first round quarterback

Jayden Daniels could easily be this season’s C.J. Stroud.

When it comes to narratives on rookie quarterbacks things have certainly changed. Just a little over a decade ago rookie signal callers were regarded as a liability and more or less a write-off on your playoff chances outside of the rare unicorn like Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan. That narrative has changed as of late with rookies coming in and switching teams from awful to immediate contenders, as CJ Stroud did for the Texans last season. Going into this year there seems to be a consensus in NFL circles on one player who could give teams some serious trouble right away, and that player is Washington’s newest playmaker Jayden Daniels.

NFL analyst Jeremy Fowler puts it on the table that teams are bringing up Daniels unprompted to state how “scared to death” they are of what exactly the Heisman winner could be with his new team. This is tremendous praise for the number two overall pick and one that comes well-earned given what Daniels did in his final college season, easily dominating teams with his arms and his legs to put up one of the best single college seasons of all time.

If Daniels is even half as productive as he was in college he will be a nightmare to defend at the next level. Only time will tell if the fear being stoked by these scouts and executives will come to fruition, but it definitely seems like things are about to get exciting in Washington.
