NFL draft: Where is Penn State OT Rasheed Walker’s draft stock?

What does the draft stock look like for Penn State OT Rasheed Walker?

As we are just a few days away from the 2022 NFL draft, it’s likely that we may hear a few Nittany Lions’ names called early.

One intriguing name is Penn State offensive tackle [autotag]Rasheed Walker[/autotag]. Walker has had a consistent and impressive season with Penn State.

The biggest question is where is Rasheed Walker‘s draft stock currently?

To start the season, Walker was a highly-touted first-round prospect. Now, he has fluctuated into the third and fourth rounds. His struggles in the 2021 season are a big factor in that. To be fair though, that entire front line struggled immensely to help move the ball and keep the run game consistent. Despite his streaky 2021 season, Walker still has a ton of upside. As mentioned, if there is one thing the Big Ten does well with their offensive line, it’s the amount of experience they bring to the table.

For example, Thayer Munford is the Big Ten’s most experienced offensive lineman in this draft, and teams will fall in love with his reliability.

Minnesota offensive tackle Daniel Faalele has been with the Gophers since the 2018 season and it’s likely he hears his name called as early as the second round.

As far as Rasheed Walker goes, he made his big jump after starting in 13 games at left tackle as a redshirt freshman. He was one of 18 players to make his freshman year debut for Penn State.

Walker has plenty of elite tape to look at and he has shown the ability that he can be a start at the next level. However, one factor other than his 2021 struggles was that he only has experience at left tackle and it’s overly versatile. Walker made all of his starts for Penn State at left tackle. Although he did play at a high level, his lack of experience on the right side might cause him to fall a bit.

However, Walker’s upper body strength, athleticism and experience will be a key factor in bis draft stock. He also went through multiple offensive coordinators and did fairly well adjusting to all of them.

We are just days away from the 2022 NFL draft and Walker is a guy that several teams could benefit from having on their roster.
