The 49ers made just one trade up in the first two days of the NFL draft, leaving them with a slew of picks on Day 3, which begins at 9:00am Pacific Time on Saturday.
San Francisco sent one of their fifth-round choices and a seventh-round choice to Minnesota in a trade up to No. 87 in the third round. They held onto two of their other third-round picks though and wound up taking Penn State safety Ji’Ayir Brown, Michigan kicker Jake Moody, and Alabama tight end Cameron Latu.
Now they’ll go into Day 3 with six picks, although none are scheduled to be in Round 4:
Round 5, Pick 155
Round 5, Pick 173 (via MIA)
Round 6, Pick 216 (Compensatory)
Round 7, Pick 247
Round 7, Pick 253 (Compensatory)
Round 7, Pick 255 (Compensatory)
There’s a chance the 49ers use a couple of their later picks to try and sneak into the fourth round, but they’ve been very good in Round 5 and additional throws at the dart board may help for a roster that needs to start stacking some inexpensive talent to supplement high-priced stars like Trent Williams and Fred Warner.
