NFL draft: Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton selected 14th overall by Ravens

Congrats and all the best to an all-time Notre Dame great in Kyle Hamilton!

The Baltimore Ravens need help reworking their defense and they got a major piece of that puzzle Thursday night as they drafted Notre Dame star [autotag]Kyle Hamilton[/autotag].  Hamilton became the first former Fighting Irish defender to be selected in the first round since Jerry Tillery in 2019 and just the second since the Minnesota Vikings selected safety Harrison Smith in 2012.

Hamilton was believed to possibly go as high as second or third overall by initial mock drafts but a slower than expected 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine and at Notre Dame’s pro day did him no favors.

However, Hamilton is as talented as any defensive player I’ve seen since I started watching Notre Dame football in the early nineties.  Contrary to what some will claim he has great coverage skills and brings a versatility that has only grown in value in the NFL in recent years.

Hamilton checks in at 6-4, 220-pounds and makes the — a better defense immediately.
