The 2021 NFL draft is just a few days away and there could potentially be five or six quarterbacks taken off of the board in the first round.
When it comes to Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, his draft stock has seemingly been all over the place. It now looks more likely that he won’t be drafted until day three as a backup/developmental quarterback.
Ehlinger has showcased adequate arm strength, mobility and leadership that teams look for in a quarterback. However, he lacks consistent accuracy down the field and near the sidelines and also comes from an offense that was run-heavy.
There are still several NFL organizations that would welcome his level of maturity, knowledge and skillset to their franchise. Especially if they’re in desperate need of depth or have a starting quarterback with similar, positive traits.
Based on scheme and fit, here are four teams that I believe would be the best fit him at the next level:
