Joseph Ossai, EDGE/OLB
The combination of a relatively lackluster edge group and an impressive
Pro Day really worked wonders for Ossai as a fringe first or second round prospect. He’s got plenty of explosiveness and is one of the better edge defenders in the draft at playing the run whether with his hand in the dirt or as an outside linebacker.
Position flexibility can be both helpful and hurtful for Ossai as he’s shown the ability to play both at Texas, but it’s hard to peg if he’s better off going to a pure 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker.
The ability to rotate between the two will have plenty of teams in the mix for his potential, but he’s a late-first round pick at this point.
