The 49ers used their third and final third-round pick to select Alabama tight end Cameron Latu.
Latu was one of a slew of tight ends who visited the 49ers prior to the draft. He measured in at 6-4, 242 pounds.
He played a ton of football across five seasons with the Crimson Tide, started 25 of the 51 games he played. He didn’t catch a pass until his fourth year, and over his last two seasons Latu posted 56 catches for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns.
San Francisco has George Kittle atop the depth chart with Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley behind him. The 49ers haven’t had a ton of success finding a No. 2 TE alongside Kittle, but now they’ve invested a Round 3 selection in trying to find that player.
