NFL Draft: 10 First Round Takeaways

Fan of both college and pro football? Enjoy 10 takeaways from Thursday’s first round with both college and NFL angles.

3.  Bengals Risk in Taking Burrow

It wasn’t a surprise at all that Cincinnati took Joe Burrow.  His 2019 was better than any quarterback from any season in the history of college football.  But does his average arm mixed with below average height for the position catch up to him in the NFL where he won’t be surrounded by as superior of talent as he was last season?  The Bengals better hope so as they’re the team that did pass on the surest thing in this draft to me, Chase Young.

4.  Ohio State Corner Back Dominance

Corner Jerry Okudah going third overall to Detroit is the highest a corner has been drafted since Shawn Springs went third to Seattle in 1997.  Okudah joins Denzel Ward, Eli Apple and Marshawn Lattimore as Buckeye corners to go in the top 11 picks the last five seasons.
