Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels was the surprise of the NFL in 2024. Not only was he not projected to do as well as he did, but he was actually slated to take longer to develop than some other quarterbacks (*cough* Caleb Williams *cough*). Those projections turned out to be very wrong, though.
Daniels has led the Commanders to their first 11-win season in over 30 years, recording 3,350 passing yards and 25 touchdowns with just nine interceptions. He also rushed for 864 yards and six additional touchdowns, leading the ground game. On top of that, now is some hype from former NFL linebacker turned NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho, who says the NFC should “fear” Jayden Daniels.

“I think teams should fear the Commanders,” Acho said. “I have in my notes, always fear mobile quarterbacks. Jayden Daniels, first quarterback in the history of the NFL, two passing touchdowns, 200 passing yards, and 65 rushing yards in three consecutive games. You can stop everything, but if Jayden Daniels decides to tuck and run, it’s your linebacker versus that 4.4 quarterback, and that 4.4 quarterback, Chase, is probably going to win.”
Daniels is indeed a very good dual-threat quarterback who has 100% elevated the play of everyone around him this season. The Dallas Cowboys will get a taste of that for the second time this Sunday.
The panel in the video went on to discuss how there’s no good defense for a mobile quarterback, and there may never be a good defense for it.
“When you think about a mobile quarterback, they can always disrupt the game plan,” Acho said. And disrupting the game plan is what Daniels does best.
