NFL analyst states Tua Tagovailoa is the worst QB for this specific type of throw

The narrative regarding Tua Tagovailoa heading into 2022 is not a good one, but maybe he’ll be able to change that with his on-field performance.

Former Alabama quarterback [autotag]Tua Tagovailoa[/autotag] has taken a ton of criticism since being selected No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins.

Trade rumors and constant criticism from NFL fans and media members have plagued his young career. However, heading into his third season, the Dolphins front office acquired some valuable players for the Tagovailoa-led offense. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Terron Armstead are just some of the big names to have joined Miami this offseason.

Recently, the Touchdown Wire put together a list of the worst quarterback for every type of throw and Tagovailoa made the list.

He is considered to be the worst quarterback to throw under pressure. This seems a bit unfair, though, considering he had the worst offensive line in the NFL last season and was pressured on what felt like most of his passing attempts.

“When pressured in 2021, Tagovailoa completed 49 of 104 passes for 606 yards, 356 air yards, three touchdowns, eight interceptions, and a passer rating of 43.2,” writes Doug Farrar. “Less than ideal when your offensive line allows 253 pressures — per Pro Football Focus, the most allowed by any front five in the league.”

There’s a strong likelihood that will change in 2022 with an improved offensive line and stronger wide receivers, but time will tell. Many consider this season to be a make-or-break year for the young quarterback.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Tagovailoa and other former Alabama players in the NFL as the 2022 offseason continues.
