Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback, is now working as a commentator for ESPN. He is fresh off announcing the Fiesta Bowl between Notre Dame and Oklahoma State and upon the news of Caleb Williams entering the transfer portal, threw massive praise in the direction of Tommy Rees.
Former Notre Dame offensive lineman and now ESPN radio host Mike Golic, Jr., posted to Twitter about Notre Dame possibly pursuing Williams to which Orlovsky replied with very high praise for Rees.
If we’re talking about getting a QB ready to play on the NFL
100% ND with Rees is top 5— Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) January 3, 2022
Now don’t get it confused, Orlovsky isn’t saying there is the slightest chance of Williams coming to Notre Dame but that praise for Rees is significant.
As we’ve discussed time and time again, Notre Dame has ground to make up from some good quarterbacks they’ve had to the truly elite quarterbacks that have won championships during the College Football Playoff era. Orlovsky saying what he did doesn’t make any grand statements for Notre Dame, but it certainly can only help to get that kind of praise when you’re big game hunting for elite quarterbacks of the future.
