The Buffalo Bills still have to maneuver salary cap space before the 2023 NFL league year begins on March 15.
The NFL did lend an early helping hand, at least.
Every team’s salary cap limit for the upcoming season is adjusted by the league prior to the new year’s start. It factors in incentives paid for during the previous season and other bonuses. In addition, each team has a carry-over total of salary cap space that can be added to the upcoming year.
Putting all those together, Buffalo’s adjusted salary cap total was brought to $227.7 million in 2023. That’s up from the original total of $224.8M.
According to Spotrac, the Bills’ new projected salary cap total for next season is now $17.9M. That’s down from nearly $20M.
In order to get below their allowance, it’s expected that the team is going to re-work some contracts already on the books.
That’s anticipated because general manager Brandon Beane outwardly said that would be the case during his end of season press conference.
The Bills have yet to announce any such transactions, but there are still several days until the March 15 deadline. Candidates for adjusted contracts for the Bills include quarterback Josh Allen and defensive end Von Miller.
