NFC playoff picture: Lions-Vikings game will determine Rams’ wild-card opponent

The Rams will host a 14-win team in the wild-card round after losing to the Seahawks. So will it be the Vikings or Lions?

Entering Week 18, the Los Angeles Rams’ list of possible opponents in the wild-card round was only four teams long. Depending on how things played out in the final week, the Rams were certain to face either the Commanders, Packers, Vikings or Lions next week.

That list was narrowed down to three teams after the Commanders won, eliminating the Packers from that group. It was then trimmed to two teams following the Rams’ loss to the Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.

With Los Angeles losing to Seattle, the Rams are now the No. 4 seed in the NFC. That means they will face either the Vikings or Lions next week – and it will be determined on Sunday Night Football.

The Rams will face the loser of tonight’s game, so if the Vikings win, the Lions will come to SoFi Stadium. If the Lions win, it’ll be Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings heading to Inglewood.

The Lions are 3-point favorites in this game against Minnesota as the home team, so oddsmakers expect Detroit to come away victorious tonight.

Kickoff from Ford Field is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
