Previewing Tuesday’s New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays ALDS Game 2 betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays continue their best-of-five AL Division Series Tuesday. Game 2 at Petco Park in San Diego is slated for 8:10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Yankees-Rays Game 2 MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Yankees vs. Rays: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Deivi Garcia vs. RHP Tyler Glasnow

Garcia is a 21-year-old rookie who made six starts in the regular season. He logged a 4.98 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 34 1/3 innings of work.

  • Holds hard contact in check (25% hard-contact rate), and albeit in a small sample, has shown an ability to get deep into games with three of his last four starts going 6 2/3 or more innings.

Glasnow posted a 4.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 11 regular season starts. He logged six innings of two-run ball in a Wild Card Series start against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday.

  • Has held current Yankee bats to a whiff-heavy .634 OPS in past meetings. Notched a three-start 3.77 ERA against New York in the regular season.

Money line (ML)

Tracking bullpen usage will be a big key in betting these Division Series matchups. The teams are playing as many as five games in five days, and the lack of days off will loom large with pitcher availability. New York used more of its top-shelf relievers than did Tampa Bay in Monday’s opener, but a late grand slam allowed the Yankees (+105) to avoid using closer Aroldis Chapman.

The top half of the Rays (-118) ‘pen will certainly be available behind Glasnow Tuesday. That makes the RAYS (-118) the lean but it’s a slight Tampa Bay edge at best.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Neither side of the Yankees -1.5 (+165)/Rays +1.5 (-200) tag is worth pursuing. MOVE ON to more value in the Over/Under.

Over/Under (O/U)

Yes, the Yankees have been bludgeoning what were the top-two pitching teams in the AL by ERA. New York has hit 11 home runs en route to scoring 31 runs over three postseason games against the Cleveland Indians and Rays.

Thirty-run three-game streaks turn into 8- or 10-run streaks over the next three all the time in baseball — and in 2020, perhaps as much with the Yankees as anyone else. With pitching being underestimated and with weather conditions swinging around to those better for the defense, back the UNDER 8 (-110). Consider waiting out a possible move to 8.5 on the total.
