New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The New York Red Bulls (2 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws) welcome the Columbus Crew (2-0-1) to Red Bull Arena Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New York vs. Columbus odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Red Bulls currently sit in a three-way tie for 6th place on the Eastern Conference table with 6 points. They have netted 7 goals and allowed just 3, the fourth-fewest goals allowed in the East.

The Red Bulls are 0-1-0 at home and were 8-3-6 at home a season ago — far better than their 5-9-3 road record in 2021. New York M Lewis Morgan is tied for the third-most goals in the MLS with 3 tallies.

The Crew have also started the season off strong. However, their only non-win was an inexcusable draw in which they allowed San Jose to score 2 goals in the final 15 minutes of play despite being a man down.

That draw came in Columbus’ only road game to date. It is led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán, who is tied for the most goals in the MLS with 4 markers.

Prediction

New York 2, Columbus 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to NEW YORK (-113).

The Red Bulls are coming into this one following a difficult 1-0 home loss to Minnesota United FC last weekend despite having 14 more total shots and 6 more shots on goal.

The Red Bulls outplayed United, but the scoreline didn’t reflect that.

New York ranks second in shooting percentage and second in assists. It’s a team continually learning to play with each other, and it should help propel its success at home.

The Crew struggled in their one road match.

They may once again struggle in New York considering they gave up 3 goals to a weak San Jose team. Columbus is giving up 1.3 goals per game which isn’t quite at the Red Bulls 1.0 opponents’ goals per game level.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the OVER 2.5 (-105).

The Crew have gone over 2.5 goals in every game this season while New York has combined for 4 and 5 goals in two of its three games this season.

Columbus has one of the best midfielders in the MLS as well which should help them control the pace.

The Red Bulls have also pushed the pace this season and even had 18 shots in their sole game which they didn’t net at least 3 goals. Both teams rank in the top four in shots on target as well.

Two elite attacking sides should be able to net 3 or more goals. This will be the best bet in this afternoon battle.
