The New York Mets (21-26) and Cleveland Guardians (31-17) play the middle contest of a 3-game interleague series at Progressive Field Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Mets vs. Guardians odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Guardians lead 1-0

The Guardians took Monday’s opener 3-1 as -119 favorites. The Mets fell behind 2-0 after the 1st inning and sliced the lead in half in the top of the 3rd, but that’s as close as they could get. The Guardians tacked on another run in the 4th, and ended up winning as the Under (9) comfortably connected.

SS Francisco Lindor returned to Progressive Field for the 1st time since he and RHP Carlos Carrasco were traded to the Mets after the 2020 postseason. Lindor was hitless in 4 ABs with a K, dropping his average to .193.

New York has dropped 3 of the past 4 games, while going 3-8 in the previous 11 contests. The Mets have dropped 4 straight interleague games, and they’re just 3-7 in 10 games this season against American League foes.

Cleveland continues to truck along, winning 4 in a row, and 7 of the past 8 outings. The Guardians have won 5 in a row at home, too, while going 8-1 in the past 9 contests at Progressive Field. The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games, while going 7-2 in the previous 9 outings.

Mets at Guardians picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 7, Mets 5

Moneyline

The GUARDIANS (-116) are a solid play in Game 2 of this interleague encounter as Carrasco goes up against his former team. He was traded to the Mets with Lindor after the 2020 postseason, since returning to Cleveland for a 2nd stint.

The Mets (-102) counter with the shaky Houser, who has been very giving, especially on the road. When the right-hander is pitching, fade him hard until he starts to resemble an MLB pitcher again.

Run line/Against the spread

The Guardians +1.5 (-188) will cost nearly 2 times your potential return if you prefer a little insurance, and, for whatever reason, you cannot bring yourself to bet Cleveland straight up.

The Guardians are playing good baseball right now. If you like them, just go with the home team on the moneyline and don’t fiddle around with the run line.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 9 (-120) might be the best play on the board.

Carrasco has been very giving this season, although he has some respectable numbers at Progressive Field. Meanwhile, Houser has been terrible, regardless of the venue.

While Cleveland has cashed low in 7 of the past 9 outings, the Over is 3-2-1 in Cookie’s past 6 outings.

For New York, the Under hit in Monday’s game, but the total has gone high in 5 of the past 6 games.
