New stat puts Terry McLaurin in class with OBJ, Mike Evans, Julio Jones

Only a handful of rookies were able to do what McLaurin did in 2019, which puts him in a pretty elite class when it comes to NFL receivers.

If you’re looking for one more stat that throws Washington Redskins receiver Terry McLaurin into the same class as some NFL superstars, look no further.

Pro Football Focus tweeted on Thursday that McLaurin was the only rookie in 2019 who average more than two yards per route run, which puts him in a class of players to the likes of JuJu Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Odell Beckham Jr., Mike Evans, Keenan Allen,  Julio Jones, and A.J. Green.

Of those players, all of them but McLaurin have been named to the Pro Bowl in years past, and they all rank among the top 10-20 WRs in the league.

It may be hard to draw a correlation between a semi-obscure stat like yards-per-route and longterm success, but it’s hard to look at the names on that list and not have a semblance of excitement for McLaurin’s future. Watching him go to work in the Burgundy & Gold is going to be a treat for years to come.
