New Sixers star James Harden has to change uniform number, will wear No. 1

New Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden will wear No. 1 with his new team.

Throughout his entire NBA career, new Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden has worn No. 13. The number has been iconic with Harden since he entered the league in 2009 with the Oklahoma City Thunder and he replicated that with the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets.

However, the number 13 is retired in Philadelphia for the greatness that is Wilt Chamberlain. Therefore, Harden has to pick a new number.

In this case, Harden will select No. 1 as he gets set to begin a new chapter in his career playing with Joel Embiid. The No. 1 jersey was worn this season by Andre Drummond who was sent to the Nets in the trade earlier on Thursday.

Harden will be looking to bring his offensive game to Philadelphia and mesh quickly with Embiid as they still have to overcome a lot of adversity coming their way in order to contend in the East. Being talented is great, but at this point, this is all about chemistry and all about being able to mesh before the playoffs begin in April.
