New Philadelphia 76ers addition De’Anthony Melton was showing off the athleticism in an open gym run.

August in the NBA offseason means a dull time in terms of player or roster moves. However, there is always plenty of video of players preparing for the upcoming season.

New Philadelphia 76ers addition De’Anthony Melton, acquired in a draft night trade, is the latest seen in the gym. He participated in an open gym run organized by NBA developmental coach Olin Simplis.

Melton showed off a tight handle, a nice jump shot and some real athleticism getting to the basket. It’s clear he looks ready to get into training camp with the Sixers and show what he can do.

Melton is expected to add legitimate ability at both ends of the court for Philadelphia’s bench unit. He averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds and he shot 37.4% from deep in the 2021-22 season with the Memphis Grizzlies.
