Last night, WCJB reporter Claudia Bellofatto reported that Florida coach Dan Mullen had an interview scheduled for sometime next week with the New York Jets.
Mullen had been linked to the Jets job after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that he would be “open to” opportunities at the next level. He had been considered a candidate for the New York job.
However, on Saturday, Zach Goodall of Sports Illustrated-All Gators delivered a conflicting report. According to a “high-ranking Florida team source,” Mullen has no scheduled interview with the Jets, nor has the franchise reached out to UF Athletic Director Scott Stricklin to request an interview with Mullen.
Despite Mullen’s apparent interest in jumping to the NFL, he hasn’t been heavily linked to any other professional jobs. Unless anything were to change, that would seem to indicate that the chances of Mullen returning in 2021 are relatively high.
With that being said, if Mullen really is hearing out opportunities from NFL teams, this is a storyline that likely isn’t going anywhere.
