New Orleans Pelicans to debut City jerseys on Christmas against Heat

The New Orleans Pelicans will debut their new Flag of New Orleans-inspired City jerseys on Christmas Day against the MIami Heat.

The New Orleans Pelicans will debut their new City jerseys on Christmas Day against the Miami Heat this season, their second game of the regular season. The full lineup of jerseys for the Pelicans through the first half of the season was released via LockerVision on Tuesday.

Miami will sport their Statement jerseys, which are the traditional dark red color.

A jersey that has led to divisive opinions, particularly on social media, the Pelicans’ City jerseys are an homage to the Flag of New Orleans with a red, white and blue design similar to that of the French flag. At least some of the disdain for the jerseys stems from the jersey that was replaced, the fan-favorite Mardi Gras design.

Based on the LockerVision schedule, the Pelicans are slated to wear their City jerseys seven times in the first half of the season, including in national television games against the Hornets and Bucks. Two of the seven games they’ll sport the jerseys will be on the road.
