Texas continues to make positive strides with the recruitment of five-star quarterback Arch Manning.
It’s no secret that the top two suitors for the consensus No. 1 recruit in the country for the 2023 class has been Georgia and Texas over the last few weeks.
Manning took an official visit to both programs in June, but the Longhorns received the final visit on his schedule. Although the New Orleans native has kept his recruitment very private, we’re starting to see Texas emerge as the favorite after his round of visits.
On3’s director of recruiting, Chad Simmons, entered a prediction for Manning in favor of Texas on Thursday with a 70% confidence level. “The official visit this past weekend to Texas really answered Manning’s questions he had about the program,” Simmons said.

Simmons mentions that it will continue to be a close race between Texas and Georgia as no one is entirely sure of Manning’s timetable to announce his decision, but he feels confident the Longhorns have started to separate themselves as the clear-cut favorite.
This would be a monumental recruiting win for Steve Sarkisian and his staff, and the amount of talent that will likely follow Manning to Austin would be significant.
