Alabama had a good week last week when they needed it most. The Crimson Tide earned wins against a pair of Tigers after taking down LSU and Missouri at home. This comes after three consecutive losses in SEC play to Missouri (at their house), Auburn and Mississippi State.
With the wins, Alabama improves their overall record to 13-6, with an SEC record of 4-3.
Yet, the wins weren’t enough to get the Crimson Tide into the AP Top 25 Poll.
While Alabama did receive votes to be included in the top 25, the votes weren’t enough, either. They stand at second among teams that received votes but didn’t crack the poll.
A new No. 1 has emerged this week after just missing the top spot in last week’s AP Poll update. Auburn takes the pole position after wins over Georgia and Kentucky.
Alabama’s schedule now features two more top-five teams in No. 4 Baylor and No. 1 Auburn, but they also still have to face off against No. 12 Kentucky twice (who saw no movement) and No. 19 LSU to close out the regular season. So, while they’re not in this week, there are still plenty of opportunities to get there.
The Crimson Tide’s schedule was already the toughest in the nation according to ESPN’s BPI, but things are only going to get tougher from this point forward.
