The Philadelphia 76ers have some issues that they need to address as they head into the 2022 offseason. After another second round exit from the playoffs, there are still some questions about the roster that must be addressed as they move forward.
One of them is the bench. The bench unit continues to be up and down for Philadelphia and they have got to figure something out in order to improve that group.
Matisse Thybulle has been a key reserve for this team, but he has yet to truly take the next step in terms of his development as a player. He is an elite defender, but he has yet to truly take the next step forward on the offensive end in order to be a two-way player in this league, though he did say that is his goal is to be better on the offensive end for the 2022-23 season.
A new mock trade performed by Bleacher Report has Thybulle and Furkan Korkmaz going to the Sacramento Kings for Justin Holiday, Alex Len, and two 2022 second round picks with one via the Chicago Bulls:
If the Sixers don’t feel they can pay him (especially with big contracts already owed to Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris and James Harden and Tyrese Maxey needing to be paid soon as well), they should try and trade Thybulle now with one year left on his rookie deal.
Holiday gives Philly a solid wing defender to help offset the loss of Thybulle, and Len is an upgrade over DeAndre Jordan as a backup center. The Kings also send multiple 2022 second-round picks to the Sixers, who currently don’t own a selection in the upcoming draft.
As much as Thybulle has been a help on the defensive end, the Sixers could use an upgrade from him off the bench. Holiday is a good defender in his own right and he can knock down the 3-ball while Len can provide good backup minutes behind Embiid.
