New Minecraft DLC adds a classic retro game to the sandbox builder

There’s a new Mega Man Minecraft DLC that adds Mega Man X characters, bosses, and stages to Mojang’s sandbox builder, and it’s out now. The DLC puts you in the blocky shoes of Mega Man X and recreates some of the SNES classic’s most iconic moments recreated in blocky 3D, including levels rebuilt from the original with a twist and even a hub space where you can spend some time with Zero.

The twist is that each of the expansion’s stages will switch periodically between 3D sidescrolling and first-person, similar to what Capcom experimented with in Mega Man Legends. It supports multiplayer, so you can team up with friends if you need a helping hand.

You’ll hunt down four Mavericks on your journey, Sting Chameleon, Storm Eagle, Armored Armadillo, and Chill Penguin, before raiding Sigma’s multi-level fortress and taking down the big bad in a final fight.

The DLC also reimagines the Mega Man X soundtrack and adds 14 skins of characters from the game, including X himself, of course, and Dr. Wily and Dr. Cain.

The Mega Man X Minecraft DLC is available for purchase for 1,340 Minecoins, or roughly $10, from the Minecraft Marketplace, and it works with any up-to-date version of Minecraft Bedrock on console and PC.
