NEW: LSU baseball lands Alabama ace Luke Holman in transfer portal

LSU landed arguably its biggest transfer addition yet on Thursday night.

LSU landed arguably its biggest addition yet in the transfer portal on Thursday night when Alabama ace pitcher [autotag]Luke Holman[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Sometimes, the script writes itself. If you remember the whole betting scandal that surrounded Alabama baseball and led to its head coach getting fired, that was all based around Game 1 between LSU and Alabama. A game in which Holman was supposed to start.

Holman was the Friday night starter for Alabama and he put up great numbers against some of the best teams in the country. Holman finished the season with a 7-4 record along with a 3.67 ERA with 87 strikeouts and 31 walks. The hitters he faced had a combined batting average of .186 against him.

After the season ended, Holman entered his name into the transfer portal and Jay Johnson was all over it. The Tigers had two of three starting pitchers taken early in the 2023 MLB draft, so rotation spots are up for grabs. Holman visited LSU and has now committed to playing for the Tigers next spring.
