Josh Reynolds could have joined the Detroit Lions this past offseason as a free agent. Coming off a career year with the Los Angeles Rams and nice chemistry with new Lions QB Jared Goff, Reynolds was an obvious target.
Instead of signing with Detroit, Reynolds opted to roll with the Tennessee Titans. For a variety of reasons, the marriage between Reynolds and the Titans quickly failed.
Now that poor marriage has been annulled, and Reynolds finds himself in Detroit after all. A self-aware Reynolds talked about coming to Detroit in his first press conference as a member of the Lions this week.
“God works in mysterious ways,” Reynolds said. “Ended up going to Tennessee (in free agency). Didn’t work out there and I’m back where I’m supposed to be.”
His connection with Goff can only help both the struggling Lions QB and the anemic receiving corps that caught just one pass in Week 8. Goff might be the only person happier than Reynolds to have the fifth-year wideout in Detroit.
“(Goff) shot me a text before it actually happened saying, ‘Did we get you yet?'” Reynolds said. “I was like, ‘Not yet, man. It’s in the works, though.’ But yeah, I was excited, he was excited. Talked to him this morning, it’s just awesome to be able to see a familiar face that you were there for four years with. It’s going to be good.”
