New Jersey’s top player, Chase Bisontis talks about including Rutgers football in his top five programs

Chase Bisontis talks about Rutgers football being a part of his top five programs.

Chase Bisontis released his final five programs this week, the top player in New Jersey including Rutgers football among a very prestigious group of programs.

A four-star offensive lineman, Bisontis is a top 100 recruit in the class of 2023. He is the consensus top player in New Jersey.

The Don Bosco Prep standout cut down his list from eight teams down to five on Saturday. Texas A&M, Rutgers, Georgia, LSU and Michigan State all made his final five programs. Miami, Ohio State and Texas were on the outside looking in.

Some were surprised to see Rutgers, a rebuilding program, included in his final five. But last year, Rutgers pulled in Jacob Allen, a four-star offensive tackle who was also the top player in New Jersey.

Were Bisontis to commit – and he is hoping to make a decision this summer after taking his official visits – he instantly would become the leader of the 2023 recruiting class for Rutgers.

“I mean I wouldn’t say I would want to be the face of a program but I could be one of those guys to help make Rutgers great again,” Bisontis told RutgersWire on Sunday night.

Rutgers football has four commits in their 2023 recruiting class, highlighted by two top 10 players in New Jersey (four-star defensive lineman JaSire Peterson and three-star offensive lineman John Stone).

He plans on taking his official visits over the summer, with two already set-up.

“Right now, I only have two set up: Michigan State and LSU and I’m in the process of setting up the others,” Bisontis said.

“I’m looking to commit after the officials, hopefully around July and focus on my senior season.”

Rutgers is a program that, by Bisontis’ count, he has visited seven times.

The Scarlet Knights are seriously in the mix for Bisontis, a player who is ranked as the No. 52 recruit in the nation according to ESPN. But right now, Bisontis is uncertain if he will be taking an official visit to the in-state program.

“I’m not sure yet about that one,” Bisontis said.

“Because I’ve been there so many times. I’m not sure about doing [an] unofficial or an official. I’m not sure yet, I’m still in the process of thinking that one out.”
