The Boston Celtics had to trade away beloved center Robert Williams III in order to land former Milwaukee Bucks All-Star guard Jrue Holiday, leaving the ball club with a thin proven frontcourt rotation as a result. But the Celtics also elected to sign free agent big man Wenyen Gabriel to the team this offseason in the hopes that the South Sudanese center could help shore up that rotation until the playoffs.
Will he be able to fill in at least during the 2023-24 regular season to save the legs of oft-injured Kristaps Porzingis and veteran big man Al Horford?
Many fans of the team are entirely unaware of Gabriel’s game on both ends of the court.
