The Brooklyn Nets signed free agent guard Elie Okobo and forward Kaiser Gates on Wednesday. According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, both players were signed on Exhibit 10 deals. With Okobo and Kaiser’s signings, the Nets’ training camp roster has bumped back up to 20 players — Brooklyn’s training camp roster dipped down to 18 after the franchise requested waivers on guard Jordan Bowden and forward Nate Sestina, both of which went undrafted this year.
For the last two season, Okobo was a member of the Phoneix Suns organization, playing in 108 games at the NBA level. Last season, he played in 55 games, averaging four points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while playing in 13.1 minutes a night.
Gates played with the Windy City Bulls (Chicago) in 2018-19, then the Maine Red Claws (Boston) in 2019-20. In 36 games with Maine, the Xavier alum logged 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while averaging 32.6 minutes a night. Gates has yet to log any minutes at the NBA level.
