Brooklyn Nets guard Seth Curry had another good game for the Nets as he seems to be finding his rhythm within the offense. In Sunday’s 102-101 win over the Miami Heat, he had 14 points and 3 rebounds off the bench as he did his part to help Kevin Durant (before he left with his knee injury in the third quarter) and Kyrie Irving score to keep Miami’s defense honest.
Not only did Curry score 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field (66.6%) and 1-of-3 shooting from three-point range (33%), but he made some good plays on defense and was able to work his mid-range game throughout the game with nice runners and pull-ups. Curry was pivotal for the Nets, especially once Durant exited the game early.
After averaging 6.2 points per game in December, Curry is now averaging 15.3 points per game in January as he is excelling in his role as a scorer off the bench for Brooklyn. Curry spoke postgame about what it took for the Nets to beat the Heat in such a nip-and-tuck kind of game:
“Just sticking to it. Every time, they kind of stalled us a bit going to that zone in the second half, but just sticking to it. Relying on our defense to get stops and then, trying to push the pace a little bit and get easier shots. We got a lot of talent on this team so just sticking to it, keeping confidence even when we miss some shots and playing a 48-minute basketball game.”
In four games in January, Curry is shooting 53.1% from the field and 63.2% from three-point land.
