Nets no longer the only team talking to Pelicans about Jrue Holiday

If the Brooklyn Nets are looking to bolster their defense, Jrue Holiday is a guard who could be very helpful.

After the NBA announced the leagues All-Defensive teams, Kevin Durant expressed there was one Western Conference guard who got snubbed.

Jrue Holiday, who Durant feels “is solidified as probably the best defender in the league at the guard position.”

Up until that point, there’d been no link between the Brooklyn Nets and the New Orleans Pelicans guard publicly.

Since Durant praised Holiday, it’s been reported the Nets have talked to the Pelicans about the guard as far back as the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline in February.

It turns out the Nets aren’t the only ones interested in acquiring Holiday.

Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting the Pelicans are “openly discussing” trading Holiday, and “several contending teams are pursuing” the guard.

So far, Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy is the only one to report what’s been discussed as compensation for Holiday in a possible Brooklyn-New Orleans deal: Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, Dzanan Musa and a protected future first-round pick.
