Nets’ Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson combine for 9 points in Team USA win over New Zealand

Brooklyn Nets wings Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson combined for nine points in Team USA’s 99-72 win over New Zealand on Saturday.

Team USA played its first official game of the 2023 FIBA World Cup on Saturday against New Zealand and won 99-72.

For Team USA, Paolo Banchero had 21 points and four blocks while Anthony Edwards had 14 points and seven rebounds. Jaren Jackson Jr. had 12 points and Austin Reaves had 12 points off the bench.

For New Zealand, Reuben Te Rangi had 15 points and two assists while Finn Delany had 12 points and five rebounds. Shea Lli had 12 points and Yannick Wetzell had 10 points.

This game did not start smooth for the Americans as they went down 14-4 with 5:54 left in the first quarter before turning things around to end the quarter leading 19-16. Team USA started pulling away from New Zealand in the third quarter as Banchero and Edwards began to assert themselves.
