Nets’ Kyrie Irving reacts to loss to the Boston Celtics

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving reacts to Sunday’s loss to the Boston Celtics

Brooklyn Nets guard superstar Kyrie Irving had his share of struggles in his team’s 103-92 loss to the Boston Celtics. He scored 18 points on 7-of-21 shooting from the field and was 1-of-5 from behind the 3-point line.

Irving had a few nice finishes at the rim, but other than that, he was unable to establish an offensive rhythm. That can be attributed to how good of a defensive team the Celtics and how many long and rangy athletes they have in their rotation.

Another interesting aspect of whenever Irving plays the Celtics is that he was on the team for two seasons (2017-2019) so he has first-hand knowledge of most of the guys on the team and how the team likes to play defense. Irving spoke on why they lost to the Celtics on Sunday:

“They’re (The Boston Celtics) a good team. I’m gonna keep saying it. They’re a good team and when you’re making costly mistakes, especially down the stretches, it’s gonna affect you. It’s gonna have an impact on the game flow. I feel like we did a great job on JT (Jayson Tatum) for the most part. Their starters, and then, they have some guys coming in that make some good plays. They played 11 guys tonight so they showed us different looks and those guys came in and made an impact on the game so you gotta give them credit”
