Nets’ Jacque Vaughn reacts to last-second win over the Jazz

Jacque Vaughn says that he’ll take the win over the Utah Jazz despite the monumental collapse down the stretch of the fourth-quarter.

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has the tendency to speak of his team’s winning performances in glowing terms. However, after the way that his team finished Sunday’s close 111-110 win over the Utah Jazz, he could only be matter-of-fact after the victory.

“There’s only one winner and one loser in every single game,” Vaughn said after Sunday’s victory over the Jazz. Despite Brooklyn leading by as many as 23 points in the game, it came down to the wire because of how poorly the Nets were executing. Despite that, Vaughn decided to take it for what it was. “We won. So, we’re gonna take the win. And, we’re gonna keep this thing moving.”

Once the Nets went up by 23 points, the Jazz ended the game on a 40-18 run thanks to the relentless driving to the rim of Talen Horton-Tucker, Lauri Markkanen, and Kris Dunn. Utah was also able to get into the bonus early in the quarter which allowed them to shoot plenty of free-throws in the period and pile up the points without time going off the clock. “What we talked about as a team that we didn’t do well, we stopped the clock. So, early they, we got them in bonus. So, they were able to get to the free throw line without the clock running.
