Nets guard Seth Curry appreciative of Sixers fans, explains his success

Brooklyn Nets guard Seth Curry was appreciative of Sixers fans and he explained his offensive success in their win.

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets brought a lot of drama and excitement to the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night as it was the first matchup between the two teams since the blockbuster deal back on Feb. 10.

The focus was obviously on Ben Simmons who made his return to Philadelphia, although he didn’t play, and he took a lot of abuse all night in terms of booing and a lot of jeers, but the Nets came out on top 129-100 on the road.

The Sixers had a tough time stopping Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and it then left an opportunity for former Sixers guard Seth Curry who had a big night scoring 24 points and knocking down four triples for Brooklyn.

“Just being aggressive,” said Curry. “Just two guys that are obviously going to draw a lot of attention, but they’re also unselfish. They wanted me here for a reason. Sean wanted me here for a reason just try to space the floor, be aggressive, making plays as well, so they trust me. I try to go out there and make the game easier for them.”

The Sixers had issues defending Curry all night as Tyrese Maxey was going under screens and it was just an overall tough assignment for them.

“I just think we allowed him to have too much space,” said Tobias Harris. “We know how good of a shooter he is and we allowed him to have too much space and the ability that he has to come off screens and make 3s and make open shots, he got too many good ones tonight. He had a helluva game for sure.”

To Harris’ point, the Sixers should know how good of a shooter Curry is. He did play a season and a half for the Sixers, after all, but they just couldn’t figure out how to stop the sharpshooter.

“I mean, it’s pick your poison,” laughed Curry. “We got a lot of weapons out there. If you’re bringing two to me and you gotta rotate off of Kevin or Kyrie or Bruce (Brown) rolling down the paint, Drum (Andre Drummond) did a great job finishing down low. For the most part, making the right pass, we got a lot of weapons out there so it’s tough to defend.”

Before the game, Curry got some cheers from the Wells Fargo Center crowd during his introduction and he was happy about that.

“It was good to get a warm reception early in the game,” he said. “Introductions from the Philly fans. I had a great time here.”
