Nets’ Cam Johnson reacts to In-Season Tournament win over Magic

Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson reacts to the Brooklyn Nets beating the Orlando Magic on Tuesday 124-104.

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson had arguably his best game of this season as he played in just his fourth contest out of a possible 11. Despite missing seven games with a left calf strain, Johnson is starting to round back into form.

“I don’t necessarily consider that one (as) shots falling,” Johnson said after putting up 20 points (7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-7 from three-point land) and three steals in Tuesday’s 124-104 In-Season Tournament win over the Orlando Magic. Johnson said during shootaround that his shots were going to start falling and that’s what happened on Tuesday.

“I got a couple of wide open ones from good plays, good ball movement,” Johnson continued. “Just a beneficiary of that. So, should have probably six of them (threes).” Johnson had been understandably rusty following his return from his injury, but it was clear on Tuesday that he was ready to shoot the ball and play some smothering defense as well.

Johnson was noticeably winded during his postgame interview so it looks like he continued getting shots up after the game was over. He has always shown a great work ethic and it appears to be the case even after the game is over or following a great shooting game.
