Nebraska eliminates the Lady Vols from the NCAA Tournament.

No. 15 Nebraska (16-3-3, 7-1-2 Big Ten) defeated Tennessee (9-7-4, 3-4-3 SEC), 2-1, Friday in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament at Barbara Hibner Field in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers led, 1-0, after Sarah Weber scored an unassisted goal in the 44th minute. It was Weber’s 15th goal of the season.

The Lady Vols tied the game, 1-1, on an unassisted goal by Macaira Midgley in the 49th minute, her second goal of the 2023 campaign.

Nebraska’s Ella Goyutt scored an eventual game-winning goal in the 89th minute. The goal was assisted by Jordan Zade and was Goyutt’s first of the season.

The Cornhuskers outshot the Lady Vols, 12-8. Nebraska had five of its scoring chances land on goal. Tennessee finished the match with two shots on goal.

Lady Vols’ goalkeeper Ally Zazzara totaled three saves in the match.
