When the Texas Longhorns improved to 4-0 last week, they had a special guest in the stands. Four-star defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson was reportedly in Austin for an unofficial visit. It marked Simpson’s first visit to any school since he committed to Nebraska in June.
While the Longhorns have not made a scholarship offer to Simpson, he saw firsthand why the future is bright as they rolled to a 51-3 win over ULM Monroe. The talented defensive lineman, originally from Texas, watched the Longhorns hold the Warhawks to 111 total yards and force two turnovers.
During his high school career, Simpson has been a human highlight reel for Hitchcock High School. Over the last two years, Simpson has recorded 58 total tackles, 16 of which have gone for a loss. He has also made life difficult for quarterbacks, recording seven sacks, including seven during the 2023 campaign.

While Simpson hasn’t been predicted to flip his commitment, he showed he could be a special talent in high school and drew plenty of interest from programs nationwide before committing to Nebraska. That list includes Oklahoma State, Baylor, Houston, and Kansas.
The recruitment of the 2025 class will come to a close over the next few months. During that stretch, Simpson will be a player to watch.
