No. 4 seed Tennessee (24-8) in the Wichita regional overcame an early deficit to notch an 80-68 victory at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Bulls (25-9) had a 17-15 advantage entering the second quarter.
Tennessee used a balanced attack to earn a first-round win and advanced to play Monday at home.
The Lady Vols, who overcame 19 turnovers, had four players post double figures in the scoring column. Alexus Dye and Tamari Key finish the contest with double-doubles for Tennessee.
Rae Burrell led Tennessee’s balanced scoring attack with 19 points.
Dye had 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Key added 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Walker had 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Lady Vols, who rallied to open a 32-30 advantage by halftime.
Buffalo’s Dyaisha Fair had a game-high 25 points. She also had seven assists and five rebounds. Georgia Woolley finished with 15 points for the Bulls.
