NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional: Payton Gottshall pitches a no-hitter for the Lady Vols

No. 4 national seed Tennessee (45-8, 19-5 SEC) defeated Northern Kentucky (23-31, 13-9 Horizon League), 12-0 in five innings, Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Payton Gottshall pitched a complete-game no-hitter for the Lady Vols, recording nine strikeouts, while allowing two walks.

Gottshall totaled 83 pitches (57 strikes) in the contest.

The no-hitter is Gottshall’s fourth in her career and second as a Lady Vol. She transferred to Tennessee from Bowling Green ahead of the 2023 season.

Tennessee will next play Indiana on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament Knoxville Regional. First pitch between the Lady Vols and Hoosiers is slated for 1 p.m. EDT.

Indiana defeated Louisville, 4-3, on Friday.
