The sports world is starved for something — anything — to hold them over during the coronavirus pandemic, which has left much of the world isolated or in quarantine, so the NBC Sports Group has decided to do something about it.
Beginning on Monday, March 30, NBCSN will begin airing classic and memorable NBC Sunday Night Football games for fans to enjoy.
“We thank Commissioner Goodell and the NFL for working with us to present this special lineup of NBC Sunday Night Football games, which will entertain fans over seven nights while also helping to support COVID-19 related fundraising with on-screen messaging,” said Pete Bevacqua, President, NBC Sports Group.
In total, NBC Sports will air 17 classic NFL games and three of those will feature the New York Giants.
On Monday, March 30 and 7:00 p.m. ET, NBCSN will air the Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Giants from Week 1 of the 2006 season — a game featuring Eli Manning vs. Peyton Manning.
Football Week in America kicks off on Monday, March 30, with the first-ever NBC Sunday Night Football game as Peyton and Eli Manning faced off in the first ‘Manning Bowl’ on Kickoff Weekend in 2006.
Then, on Tuesday, March 31 at 9:30 pm. ET, NBCSN will air a Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants matchup from Week 2 of the 2009 season — the first ever regular season game at Jurrah World.
Tuesday brings two Cowboys games as the night begins with Dallas quarterback Tony Romo making his first career start in 2006, followed by the regular-season debut of AT&T Stadium as the Cowboys hosted the division-rival Giants in Week 2 of 2009 in a thriller game that was decided in the closing seconds.
Finally, on Sunday, April 5, NBCSN will air a Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants game from Week 12 of the 2014 season, otherwise known as the Odell Beckham Jr. catch game.
To cap off Football Week in America, NBCSN begins the night with Odell Beckham Jr.’s spectacular one-handed catch while falling into the end zone for a 43-yard touchdown against Dallas – despite being interfered with on the play. On the broadcast, Collinsworth exclaimed, “That might be the greatest catch I’ve ever seen! You have to be kidding me. That is absolutely impossible!”
Be sure to set your DVR’s, Giants fans!
